“My mission at Czech Radio Plus has been fulfilled. The station and the entire coverage of Czech Radio are in excellent condition, ČRo Plus has an audience that no one dared to estimate when the station was founded. I would like to thank the reporting team and colleagues at Czech Radio Plus for the excellent cooperation in really difficult times,” said Šabata. He is convinced that the station managed to convey covid, war and other events to listeners in the highest standard of public service.
According to the general director of Czech Radio, the CRo Plus station reached the very top several times under Šabata’s leadership. “In terms of the number of listeners, it has broken several peaks that we considered difficult to overcome,” he said. According to the current results of research into radio listenership in the Czech Republic by Radioprojekt, ČRo Plus is tuned in by 157,000 listeners a day. In March 2018, when Shabbat started, there were around 55,000 people a day.
Šabata joined Czech Radio in 2017 in the position of head of the program of the ČRo station Radiožurnál. He became the editor-in-chief of CRo Plus on March 1, 2018. In his comments for the news website of the Czech Radio iROZHLAS.cz, he mainly focused on Slovakia, the economy and education.
In the past, he worked as editor-in-chief of the MF DNES, Hospodářské noviny and the Naše adresa project. He was also the editor-in-chief of the Pravda daily in Bratislava and the deputy editor-in-chief of the Slovak SME. He wrote political and economic news, commentaries, analyses, interviews and columns for these media.
