Bear attacked a resident of Washington State , USA , near her home. This is reported by The New York Post .
According to the publication, the incident occurred around 7 am Saturday morning local time in the village of Leavenworth in the Cascades. The woman released her dog for a walk, and the female black bear attacked her from behind and knocked her to the ground.
Wildlife researcher Rich Beausoleil said the woman “turned around and punched her right in the nose.” The she-bear appeared to be “surprised” after the blow and then ran away, the newspaper writes.
According to the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation , the woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Later, the bear was shot dead, and her two cubs were placed in a rehabilitation facility.
The department noted that in Washington state, the last recorded fatal attack by a black bear on a person occurred in 1974.
Earlier in the US, a moose interrupted a children’s football game. Later, the animal ran away, and as a result of the incident, no one was hurt – the match was continued.
