The fire at the oil depot broke out at 14:40 Moscow time due to the shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). A correspondent for RIA Novosti reported eight explosions that were heard in the center of Belgorod . According to him, because of the loud sounds in the houses, the windows trembled.

“We have another shelling. One of the shells hit the oil depot in the Belgorod region. I am at the scene. There is no threat of spread,” said the head of the Belgorod region after the start of the fire.

“In the village of Razumnoye-71, as a result of shelling at an oil depot, one of 10 tanks was damaged, it contains the remains of diesel fuel,” a TASS source in emergency services said. According to him, it was this tank that caught fire.

The interlocutor of the agency specified that the rest of the tanks are not damaged and they are empty. But to eliminate possible ignition, they were cooled with water, he added.

In addition to the oil depot, the customs checkpoint in Shebekino, bordering Ukraine, was also fired upon, Gladkov said. APU fired 14 rounds at him. He noted that the Ukrainian army had been shelling this object for several days.
