The profile committee of the State Duma considered a draft law aimed at additional protection of the rights of workers performing work on a rotational basis. We are talking about regulating the issues of payment for the delivery of employees to and from the place of work. Corresponding amendments are planned to be made to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, said State Duma deputy Svetlana Bessarab.
According to the current legislation, the employer is not obliged to pay for the transportation of workers, which often leads to labor disputes. At the same time, the shift method of work is a special form of implementation of the labor process, in which employees work, as a rule, far from their permanent place of residence, not being able to return home daily.
“The bill will protect the rights of workers on a rotational basis. Currently, the employer can deliver employees to the place of work on transport belonging to the enterprise. However, not all organizations have such opportunities. Therefore, it is proposed to supplement the Labor Code with norms according to which the payment for travel to and from the place of work will be entrusted to the employer. The bill also provides for compensation for the cost of travel for employees. The amount and procedure for such payment will be established by a collective agreement or a local regulatory act. The initiative will protect the income of workers employed on a rotational basis from improper costs,” commented Member of the Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, State Duma deputy Svetlana Bessarab.
