A resident of Rostov-on-Don wanted to sell boots via the Internet and lost money :: News

In Rostov-on-Don, a 54-year-old local resident was the victim of telephone fraud. This was reported today by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Rostov Region.

According to the applicant, she placed an advertisement for the sale of boots on one of the websites. After some time, she was contacted by a buyer who convinced his potential victim to make a supposedly safe transaction. The victim received a link from the attacker and followed it, entered her bank card details, and after that more than 100 thousand rubles were debited from her account.

As expected, the “buyer”, having received what he wanted, stopped communicating and soon blocked the victim’s number. Then the woman realized that she was dealing with a fraudster and immediately contacted the police.

A criminal case has been initiated in accordance with clause “d” of part 3 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft from a bank account”. Law enforcement officers are carrying out a complex of operational-search measures aimed at identifying and detaining those involved in the commission of unlawful acts.
