The Krasnoyarsk Territory, engulfed by large-scale fires, continues to fight the elements, but the number of victims is growing. According to updated data from the Ministry of Health of the region, the number of victims has increased to 20.
“In total, 20 people were injured as a result of the fires, 13 patients were hospitalized, of which three were severe, and 10 were of moderate severity. Seven patients received outpatient care,” the ministry said in a statement.
Recall that earlier the Investigative Committee of Russia reported 19 injured and eight dead.
The flame flared up in the region on May 7. The fire covered more than 16 settlements. The situation was complicated by the fact that wind gusts reached 40 meters per second. For this reason, there were 273 fires in 18 municipalities. According to the operational headquarters, the main causes of fires were failures in the power supply system, falling trees on power lines, short circuits and explosions at substations.
