Yerson Candeloone of the great figures in the Nacional’s 3-1 victory over Tolima in the first Colombian football final, expressed his enthusiasm for winning a title with the Paisa squad. The Valle del Caucano, who scored a great goal from his own fieldalso explained how it was the achievement of said goal.
“We have a very passionate coaching staff, very devoted to work and very analytical, we knew where we could take advantage on the opposite goal. Although you know the first goal came from a similar situation, from mid-distance, and the second comes from an incredible goal that puts us on track to be strong, promising this 17th star that we long for so much,” Candelo commented on his mid-distance shot.
In this regard, he added: “chen one shoots at the goal, shoots for it to go in, at that moment I saw that the goalkeeper was outside and I did not hesitate a second to shoot at the goal. It really took me by surprise, I celebrated when I heard all the noise.”
Regarding his physical condition, he explained: “at this point in the tournament we are already many players who have a fairly high load of games in a row and, always, not only in finals, we always have to endure pain and discomfort because that is normal. During the week, the Arriero’s message was that: ‘I know there are pains, I know there are discomforts so we have to move on with that game, the first final'”.
And he added about the illusion of celebrating a title with the team: “I am one of the players who has been at the club the longest, I have always been with the mentality of contributing, of giving my bestFor me it is a dream to win a league with Nacional. I have said publicly that I have received a lot of love for this shirt and whenever I enter the field of play it is to try to give my best, to be able to help the team. I’m going to continue to do my best and hopefully win 17 and then go for 18.”
Finally, from the squad of players, he pointed out: “the Arriero has always stated it, this group has something important, that all the people have been infected with the team. After four years and something it has been very difficult not to be in the finals, but it has been an important point to be able to consecrate what we have achieved now”.
