Floods in southern China leave more than 400,000 homeless | International

During the last few weeks, China has experienced numerous rains that have resulted in floods mainly in the south of the country. One of the most affected regions has been the Jiangxi Province, where 485,000 people have been evacuated due to overflowing rivers.

The heaviest rains occurred between Saturday June 18 and Monday June 20, flooding 55 of the 68 districtsaffecting some 43,000 hectares of crops and causing losses estimated at around $70 million for both commercial and property damages.

Other provinces affected by the rains are Guangzhou, Zhejiang, Hunan and Ghizhouwhere there have been landslides, landslides and more floods that have resulted in numerous evacuations, suspension of work, public transport and classes.

The authorities hope that the climatic conditions improve to start repair work in the face of the massive damage registered in one of the main growing areas for the country.
