Effects due to the rains in Caldas: Orange alert in Caldas due to the current rainy season | Manizales

the head of the Caldas Risk Management UnitCarolina Restrepo Botero, indicated that according to the forecasts made by the IDEAM the rainy season current could continue with averages above 30 percent of normal.

He explained that being influenced by the La Niña Phenomenon rainfall could be very strong and constantespecially during the months of August and September.

He invited the local risk committees to maintain the monitoring of water sources and critical pointsin accordance with the respective municipal plans, to avoid affectations to the inhabitants.

It is currently in Orange alert the Magdalena Medio hydrographic zone; as well as the riparian areas of the Guarinó and La Miel rivers in municipalities such as Marquetalia, Pennsylvania, Samaná and Norcasia.

The hydrographic basins of the Chinchiná and Risaralda rivers are also in Orange alert; which implies special attention in the municipalities of Manizales, Chinchiná, Riosucio, Anserma, San José, Risaralda, Belalcázar and Viterbo.

The Secretary of the Environment of Caldas has also stated that there is a orange alert for landslides for Anserma, Aguadas and Riosucio.
