An extreme right-wing activist has been sentenced in Washington to more than seven years in prison for participating in the assault on Capitol on January 6, 2021this being the highest sentence to date.
Guy Reffitt49 years old, member of the group “Three Percenters”was found guilty in March, mainly for having obstructed the work of Congress and the police, in the first trial on this assault. He headed the first group that attacked the Capitol and contributed to force police lines. According to prosecutors, she was wearing a gun, a bulletproof vest, a helmet and plastic handcuffs.
During the trial, the accusation was based in videos in which he appeared, in the front row, congratulating the crowd that called him “leader”.
Since the attack more than 850 people have been arrested, of which 330 have pleaded guilty and only about ten have been tried in trials. So far, some 100 prison sentences.
