2022: CNE is reviewing 1,172 complaints from Senate candidates | Politics

After the elections to the Congress of the Republic and in the midst of the development of the subsequent stages, the president of the National Electoral Council, César Abreo, revealed that 1,172 requests for claims from candidates have reached this electoral body.

“This National Electoral Council has begun to address the claims presented by the different candidates for the Senate of the Republic. 1,172 claim requests were filed and we are attending 8 appeals from the Chamber in the department of Antioquia, an appeal in the department of Santander and a declaration of election that was pending in the department of Vichada, we currently have 98% of declared chambers,” said Judge Abreo.

The president of that electoral body assured that the process of delivering credentials to the elected senators would begin in June.

“We still have to make the declaration of the Senate of the Republic, which we hope, with the agility that we are carrying out the process, on June 20 we will be able to deliver the credentials to the new senators of the Republic”, he added.

The elections to the Congress of the Republic were brought forward on March 13.
