For Ukraine, in the fight against the Russian aggressor, the support of Japan is very important and valuable, because the Ukrainian and Japanese peoples are united by courage and readiness to fight for their land.
Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak stated this in an interview with Japan’s largest national broadcaster, the NHK TV channel, Ukrinform reports with reference to OP.
“We have known about the strengths of our nation for a long time. The most important thing that the whole world knows about them today is how heroic and strong Ukrainians are and how they were able to show the whole world that we are not afraid, that we are ready to fight for our land, our freedom and independence,” Yermak said.
He noted that these values are the basis, which, in particular, unites the Ukrainian and Japanese peoples.
“There are no true samurai among Russians, but as it turned out, there are a lot of them among Ukrainians. I think that Japan’s support is strong today, because you see yourself in our struggle. You see the same devoted attitude towards your country in Ukrainians, you see how they take risks today, give their lives for their ideals, their values and their people. I think this is very close to you, and therefore we feel your support today,” the Head of the Office of the Head of State emphasized.
He recalled the words of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who during the meeting of the G7 leaders expressed strong support to Ukraine.
Yermak, who is negotiating security guarantees for our state, noted that there were signals from Japan regarding their interest in joining the negotiation process.
“We would be happy if Japan were among those countries that became the guarantors of our future security,” he said.
The Head of the Office of the President noted the importance of the de-occupation of all territories of Ukraine that belong to it in accordance with international law. According to him, today Ukraine is defending not only its independence and territorial integrity, but defends the fundamental principles of democracy and international law. That is why the support of our country from the world community is important for our victory in the war with Russia. It is also important that the world understands that if Ukrainian borders are not defended today, then tomorrow such a situation may arise in other states.
“The Ukrainian people have been demonstrating the strength of resistance and the ability to fight for five months now, so helping Ukraine today, supporting it is an investment in the future, in security, in the fact that you can safely drink coffee in Paris or Berlin and live peacefully in many European capitals and not only. If today Ukraine does not stop Russia, then why should Russia stop somewhere else? They will see that the world is not able to stop them,” Yermak added.
The head of the Office of the Head of State drew attention to the fact that Ukraine still lacks weapons, but the partners clearly understand what and when the Ukrainian army needs in order for the fight against the Russian aggressor to be effective.
Yermak also focused on the importance of continuing the policy of sanctions, because the Russian Federation uses every opportunity to put pressure on the world and blackmail, in particular, provoking food and energy crises.
The head of the Office of the President is convinced that it is necessary to show people what uncontrolled cruelty leads to and demonstrate that punishment for this will be inevitable.
As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in May that Ukraine was working with its international partners on a security guarantee treaty that did not involve the Russian Federation.
