In the first part of this issue, we are talking about why Zmeiny Island became the second Chernobaevka for the Russian military, what is its importance for military operations in this part of the Black Sea.
The first important victory of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at sea near the island was the hit on April 13 by two Neptune cruise missiles, followed by the sinking of the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the cruiser Moskva.
From April 30 to May 8, strikes by Bayraktar T2 UAVs of the Ukrainian Navy on Zmeinoye destroyed a command post, a communication machine – a server with telecommunications equipment, several Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile systems and Tor air defense systems, as well as a helicopter with Russian paratroopers. In addition, five high-speed landing craft of the Raptor type and a landing boat of the Chamois type of the Russian Black Sea Fleet were destroyed near Bayraktar Island. In addition, two Ukrainian SU-27s attacked the positions of the Rashists on Zmeiny. The number of Russian military destroyed goes to dozens.
