White House announces new defense aid package for Ukraine

US President Joe Biden has issued a memo allocating $550 million to Ukraine as a new defense aid package.

This is stated in memorandum President of the United States, released on Monday, Ukrinform reports.

The document states that President Biden authorizes the US Secretary of State to send $550 million “for defense supplies and services of the Department of Defense, as well as military education and training to assist Ukraine.”

In another White House message to be specifiedthat the new aid tranche includes additional rockets for HIMARS systems, as well as artillery shells “having a significant impact on the battlefield.”

As reported by UkrinformHead of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Valery Zaluzhny briefed the American partners on the operational situation at the front and the needs of the Ukrainian army.
