If you believe according to Rosstat, the output of various goods in Russia this year even increased. The figure is insignificant – only 0.4%, but indicative. What does it mean? And what products our companies began to produce more, and what – less?

WHETHER GROWTH OR FALL

On the one hand, the statistics for nine months are a bit sly. The entire growth occurred in the first quarter, when sanctions either did not exist yet, or they were just being introduced. In the next six months there was a natural decline.

On the other hand, even if we take only the third quarter, when most of the sanctions were already in full swing, and compare it with the same period last year, when the economy was quickly recovering from the coronavirus pandemic, it turns out that although there is a drop, it’s not that big. and large – only 1.3%.

In general, you can live. Expert forecasts were much darker than reality. What growth, what fall – everything is within the limits of statistical error.

True, if you look in even more detail and compare the data for September of this and last year, it turns out that in this context, the fall is 3.1%. And there may be several reasons for this. First, the last decade has come with the announcement of partial mobilization. It could affect the volume of production of various products. Secondly, six months later they could make themselves felt delayed effects of sanctions. For example, reducing the balance of components in warehouses.

At the same time, there are those industries that have shown growth. The leaders are pharmaceuticals and printing activities.

WHO IS PLUS AND WHO IS MINUS

The biggest losses are in the area auto production. This is due to two factors at once. Firstly, many factories were already suffering from a shortage of microchips, the shortage of which happened due to the coronavirus. Secondly, stoppages of conveyors at factories of foreign manufacturers, associated with both logistical and geopolitical difficulties, affected.

According to experts, the decline in the production of wood products may be due to the departure of the country’s largest retailer – the Swedish IKEA. It accounted for a large share of purchases. And although local companies began to develop either their own sales or integrate into other supply chains, the industry has still lost about 10% since the beginning of the year.

At the same time, there are those industries that have shown growth. The leaders are pharmaceuticals and printing activities. Both have grown due to the processes of import substitution. Russian companies were able to quickly increase their production volumes and replace foreign competitors in the domestic market.
