Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko received the title of honorary citizen of the Polish capital.
According to Ukrinform, he announced this in Telegram.
“I sincerely thank the authorities and residents of Warsaw for the title of honorary citizen of the Polish capital. Cities with which Kyiv is united by long-term friendship and cooperation. This is a great honor for me and recognition of the heroism of all Kyivans, the courage of the Ukrainian people, opposing the invasion of Russian barbarians,” Klitschko said, adding that brother Vladimir received the award today at the solemn meeting of the Warsaw City Council.
He added that the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, assured in his speech that Poland would continue to help Ukraine, and both countries would remain free and independent states.
As reported, in early June, Poland signed a defense contract with Ukraine in the amount of 2.7 billion zlotys (about $650 million) regarding the sale of Krab self-propelled artillery mounts (ACS) to Ukraine. Ukraine partially receives funds for the purchase of these weapons from the EU, and partially pays from its own budget.
Earlier, Poland transferred military equipment worth about $1.7 billion to Ukraine. We are talking, in particular, about 240 modernized T-72 tanks, Piorun MANPADS, Krab self-propelled guns, as well as grenade launchers, artillery shells, etc.
