The police conducted a whole special operation to capture a pet – a raccoon named Rocky. His owner Erin Christensen had the imprudence to come with him to a local bar. One of the visitors reported this to the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services.

A few hours later, the door of Christensen’s house was kicked out by the police. They searched, found a raccoon. Owner Rocky said that her family found the animal on the side of the road about three months ago, now it is being treated, after which they want to release it back into the wild. Nevertheless, the girl was arrested, she faces up to two years in prison and a $ 7,500 fine for illegal possession of fur animals.

In the state of North Dakota, it is illegal to keep raccoons at home because they can be infected with rabies. Locals call these animals scavengers that rummage through trash cans.

“Too much has been done to apprehend an innocent raccoon. They didn’t care about our health, whether we had rabies or not. They were worried about finding and killing Rocky and putting me behind bars,” Christensen told reporters.
