US to announce steps to bolster European security during NATO summit in Madrid

At the NATO summit in Madrid next week, the alliance’s leaders will announce new commitments to build forces to bolster the bloc’s defense and deterrence capabilities.

This was announced by the coordinator for strategic communications of the US National Security Council, John Kirby, reports Ukrinform with reference to the website. Pentagon.

“The US will announce steps to bolster European security along with expected large new indemnities from allies,” the statement said.

Kirby noted that for the first time, Indo-Pacific leaders from Australia, Japan, New Zealand and the Republic of Korea will attend the summit.

“It makes clear that ‘either in Europe or in the Indo-Pacific region, the United States and our allies and partners will defend the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity,'” Kirby said.

Recall: the next summit will be held in Madrid on June 28-30 NATOwhich will consider modern challenges for European and Euro-Atlantic security, ways to further transform the Alliance and adopt a new NATO Strategic Concept.
