French President Emmanuel Macron said he plans to hold telephone conversations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the coming days. It is reported by TASS .

“It is envisaged that we will hold talks with Mr. Putin in the coming days, in particular on the nuclear issue,” Macron said.

The French president recalled that he had already discussed the issue of nuclear safety with Putin, and this topic was also raised at the talks between the foreign ministers of both countries.

According to him, on the morning of September 21, he will hold a meeting with the head of the IAEA Rafael Grossi , following which he will communicate with the Russian president.

Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell , announced the need to negotiate with Russia on a number of issues, including security at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. The diplomat emphasized that a number of issues cannot be resolved without the participation of Moscow, and also compared anti-Russian sanctions with a diet, saying that the result from them is not achieved the next day, and the effect will come gradually.
