UNESCO will provide grant support to museums and institutions of Odessa for almost $100,000

UNESCO and the Museum for Change volunteer project signed a contract to support two Odessa museums, the State Archives and the OVA Department of Culture, which provides for the allocation of a grant in the amount of 98 thousand dollars for the implementation of projects.

According to Ukrinform, this is reported in Facebook Head of the Odessa Art Museum Alexandra Kovalchuk.

“I received word that UNESCO has signed a contract with the Museum for Change. More than 3 months of negotiations, dozens of documents, 20 approvals, renegotiations, deferrals, additional procedures of $98,000 to be spent in Ukraine,” Kovalchuk said.

According to her, a grant for the implementation of individual projects will be received, in particular, by the Odessa Art Museum, the Odessa Museum of Modern Art, the State Archive of the Odessa Region and the Department of Culture of the Odessa OVA.

As reported, Alexander Kovalchuk was appointed acting. Director of the Odessa Art Museum after the death of the head of this institution, the artist Alexander Roitburd.

On December 17, 2021, the deputy majority of the Odessa Regional Council voted to transfer the property of the communal institution “Odessa Art Museum” to state ownership, resubordinating the institution directly to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
