UN counts more than 8 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine | News from Germany about Ukraine | DW

According to UN estimates, as a result of the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine, more than eight million Ukrainian residents have already become internally displaced. This was announced on Tuesday, May 10, by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), citing data as of May 3.

According to this UN organization, in connection with the large-scale humanitarian crisis in the country, 44 percent of internally displaced persons admit that they will again have to change their place of residence.

As of April 17, IOM estimated the number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine who left their homes but did not leave the country at 7.7 million.
