Ukrzaliznytsia fixes the growth of freight traffic
JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” records a gradual increase in freight traffic: in the first days of the war, the railway transported 150 thousand tons per day, since the beginning of May – 300-310 thousand tons.
According to Ukrinform, this is reported by company press office.
“Before the war, Ukrzaliznytsia loaded an average of 700,000 tons of cargo per day. In the first days of the war, this figure fell to 150,000 tons. May – 300-310 thousand tons,” the message says.
It is noted that the largest growth is recorded in the transportation of grain – plus 86%. In addition, the figures for the transportation of building materials have doubled. At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia is making every effort to redirect exports to the EU and Bessarabia.
“Ukrainian Railways is ready to reorient traffic from the ports of southern Ukraine to western crossings with EU countries. Unfortunately, neighboring countries were not ready for such volumes, but work continues, and volumes will increase,” commented Oleksandr Kamyshin, Chairman of the Board of the company.
As reported, the joint stock company “Ukrzaliznytsia” transported about 3.5 million tons of cargo across the western borders in April.
