Ukrposhta stopped working in the occupied territories

Since August 1, JSC “Ukrposhta” has suspended the work of its branches in the territories not controlled by Ukraine.

This was announced by the General Director of Ukrposhta Igor Smelyansky in Telegramreports Ukrinform.

“Until yesterday, despite all the obstacles and thanks to the heroic work of our employees, in particular in Zaporozhye, and before that in Kherson, we paid hundreds of thousands of pensions, accepted and transferred payments for utilities, and also delivered food. But there is more to do there is no possibility,” Smelyansky said.

Due to the threats to the lives of workers and the threat of robbery by the occupiers, the company decided to stop working in the temporarily occupied territories.

“They (the invaders – ed.) do not allow us to deliver pensions, because they need to collect passport numbers from pensioners for “referendums” in exchange for pensions in “wooden currency” with their usual blackmail. They do not know how to do otherwise,” Smelyansky noted.

He thanked the people who, despite the threat, continued to fulfill their duties, and announced that after the return of the occupied territories, Ukrposhta would return there with new branches.

As Ukrinform reported, in the Kherson region, the invaders broke into the Ukrposhta branch with weapons and threatened workers. The Kherson directorate of the joint-stock company “Ukrposhta” has ceased operations since July 1.
