Ukrainian Samulyak won silver at the Junior World Championships in weightlifting

The first medal of Ukraine at competitions in Greece.

Ukrainian weightlifter Svetlana Samulyak won the silver medal in the weight category up to 55 kg at the Junior World Championships, which takes place in Heraklion, Greece, Ukrinform reports.

18-year-old Samulyak lifted 89 kg in the snatch, which allowed her to take a small silver medal in this discipline. In the clean and jerk, the Ukrainian became a heel, showing a result of 103 kg.

According to the results of two events, Samulyak lifted 192 kg and won the silver medal. The Ukrainian woman lagged behind the champion Nina Sterks (Belgium) by 12 kg.

Recall that last year Samulyak became the European champion among juniors.
