Ukrainian Ombudsman wants to go to Olenivka

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets wants to come to Olenivka to visit the site of the terrorist attack by the Russian military, which killed about 40 and injured 130 people.

He said this on the air of the All-Ukrainian telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I’m not just ready – I demand that I be given the opportunity to visit this place war crime”, he said.

Lubinets clarified that while the representatives of Ukraine cannot get there, and they can only analyze the video that they have at their disposal.

“Firstly, this barracks (where Ukrainian prisoners were kept – ed.) was built separately, and for us this is an indicator that this military operation has been preparing for a long time. In addition, the so-called pro-Russian Telegram channels speak about this, where back in June it was discussed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were considering, probably, they would strike at Olenivka. Such was the information stuffing from them,” Lubinets said.

The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights believes that the Russians were preparing for this – they built a separate barracks, transferred our guys there, etc.

At the same time, according to preliminary data, as the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights emphasized, several options for what happened are being considered.

In particular, according to Lubinets, the way the burnt beds are, the way the bodies of our heroes lie, this may indicate an explosion inside. This is also evidenced by the fact that the nearby barracks were not damaged at all, and even the windows were not damaged.

“I think that all military experts will unanimously say that this is basically impossible if any missile hit the barracks. Also, the Russian military who were there were not affected by some, probably a miracle. Not a single worker of this correctional institution was also injured,” he said.

The official specified that the events in Olenovka were a war crime carefully prepared by the Russian army.

“And now we demand from those institutions, from international ones, first of all, this is the UN, and also the ICRC, which were the guarantors that when the guys left Azovstal, they guaranteed their safety and return home through the exchange procedure, – and we demand that they comply with this and also provide me with the opportunity to personally arrive there,” said the Ukrainian Ombudsman.

As reported earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the Russians deliberately shelled the colony in Olenovkawhere Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept.
