Ukrainian military will receive 30 reconnaissance drones

As part of the Army of Drones program, 78 reconnaissance drones have already been purchased. The first batch of 30 DJI Matrice 300 RTK multicopters has arrived in Ukraine and will soon go to the front.

Head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection Yuriy Shchigol told an Ukrinform correspondent about this.

“Our goal is to purchase about 200 reconnaissance drones. The military will have the first batch of 30 DJI Matrice 300 drones one of these days. Another 48 multicopters will be delivered to Ukraine next week. After that, they will also be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he said.

According to the head of the service, the DJI Matrice 300 has a flight time of 55 minutes and a maximum altitude of 7,000 meters. Also, the drone is equipped with artificial intelligence technology and cameras with thermal imagers, which are able to focus on targets and pose a potential danger.

Shchigol clarified that 5 Fly Eye complexes have been purchased at present – unmanned aerial vehicles of the NATO model, which are used by Polish special forces. One of them is already in Ukraine, the other 4 will arrive one by one every week.

The maximum speed of this UAV is 120-160 km / h, the radius of application is up to 50 km, the service ceiling is 4000 m, the wingspan is 3.6 m, and the length is 1.9 m.

“One DJI Matrice 300 drone costs UAH 720,000. One Fly Eye complex, or rather a station and two airplanes – UAH 22 million, each individual drone – UAH 5.8 million,” he added.

As reported, the Army of Drones is a project launched by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Digital Information. This is a comprehensive program, within the framework of which a systematic purchase of drones, their repair, as well as training courses for relevant specialists are planned. The project started on July 1 this year.
