Ukrainian tennis player Oleksiy Krutykh successfully started in the main draw of the ATP Challenger Tour in the German city of Heilbronn with a prize pool of €90,280.
The 22-year-old from Kiev (No. 314 ATP) confidently defeated the 37-year-old Frenchman Gilles Simon – 6:2, 6:1, Ukrinform reports.
Simon is in the last season of his professional tennis career. The Frenchman climbed to sixth in the ATP rankings in 2009 and has 14 single trophies to his credit.
The next opponent for Krutykh will be the eighth seed Andrey Martin (144) from Slovakia.
