Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra started world tour from Warsaw

A concert at the National Opera in Warsaw kicked off the world tour of the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra, a group of Ukrainian musicians created after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The creation of the orchestra was initiated by the Polish National Opera and the Metropolitan Opera (New York), an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

During a press conference before the concert, Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasily Zvarych called it very symbolic that the tour started in Warsaw on the Day of Ukrainian Statehood.

“This is a powerful message to the whole world that statehood is not given once and for all. It must be protected, as well as national heritage and culture,” Zvarich stressed. He thanked the organizers for their contribution to maintaining Ukrainian culture.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland Piotr Glinsky stressed that from the very beginning of the Russian aggression, Poland has been on the side of Ukraine. “It is an honor and a duty for us to be together with Ukraine and Ukrainians during these terrible events. Ukraine is protecting not only its sovereignty, but also Poland, Europe and our entire civilization,” Glinsky stressed.

He added that the orchestra’s main task would be to “awaken the world from indifference.”

Galina Grigorenko, the minister of culture and information policy of Ukraine, chimed in with her guardianship to everyone who reached the orchestra.

“We are fighting not only for the territory, but also for the right to establish an independent state. Our culture is under threat. It is extremely important that the musicians of the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra, under the ceremonial work of Keri-Lynn Wilson, convey this message to the world,” Hryhorenko said.

The participants of the call also looked at the video message of the Minister culture and information policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko. Vіn naming the concerts of the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra near Warsaw and other places as a gesture of solidarity with the victims of the war in Ukraine. The minister acclaimed the Polish National Opera and the Metropolitan Opera for those who could choose leading Ukrainian musicians to participate in this tour of Europe and the USA.

The orchestra is very close to the home of the Canadian conductor of the Ukrainian campaign Keri-Lynn Wilson. The musicians of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Kiev National Opera, the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kharkiv Opera have gone to the new stage. At the warehouse of the team to perform, zokrema, Ukrainian opera singer Lyudmila Monastyrska and pianist Anna Fedorova.

The program includes works by Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov, Frederic Chopin, Johannes Brahms, Ludwik van Beethoven and Antonin Dvorak.

Updating 28 pm – 20 pm Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra organize a light tour. Outside Poland, Ukrainian musicians will perform in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Ireland, and also in the USA. Koshti, chosen for the first hour of concerts, go to the support of Ukrainian artists, they will be transferred to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
