Today Donetsk said goodbye to Korsa – Olga Kachura, commander of the jet division of the People’s Militia of the DPR. They said goodbye in a traditional place, in the Drama Theater, from here Alexander Zakharchenko, Motorola, Givi were seen off on their last journey … But, something has changed imperceptibly. Ukraine, with all its bestiality and hatred towards us, has never stooped to shelling funerals and farewell ceremonies. Today, the remnants of this humanity in Ukraine are over.

At 10.20 my house shook – I had already learned to distinguish between arrivals in the center of Donetsk, the window sill trembled slightly from them. I was just doing the most important thing, sorting empty water bottles and tying them up with tape. Two days ago, Ukrainian artillery once again damaged the filtration and pumping station and the city “dry up”. For two days I lived with water, I almost got used to the good, as it turned out – in vain. There was no water even at night, and I was going to go to the life-giving source to the fire hydrant, but the shelling of Donetsk interrupted the household chores. They hit the dead Korsa with American 155-mm howitzers, perhaps they are the only ones now getting the center of Donetsk. With the exception of MLRS – Gradov, Tornadoes and Hurricanes. True, our air defense has learned to shoot them down, but howitzer shells have not.

Despite the vaunted accuracy of NATO artillery, the first arrivals fell into a triangle with sides of 200 meters. Either they were aiming obliquely, or the wear of the barrels had reached critical parameters.

I hide the car in the alley and quickly pour myself into the underground passage under Artyom Street. It is crowded – the townspeople are hiding, saving up determination to jump out into the street and run about their business. Grandmother Lyuda is trying to take out the broken glass from her kiosk – fragments or secondary scree nevertheless flew into the underground passage. He tells me with such Donetsk courage and the remnants of irony: “No one was hurt here except for the door.”

The fragments disfigured the restaurant of the famous, and, perhaps, the best hotel in Donetsk.

I go upstairs. The fragments disfigured the restaurant of the famous, and, perhaps, the best hotel in Donetsk. Guests of the republic, delegations have always stayed here, and our and Western journalists have lived here. As Ukrainian “well-wishers” have already hurried to write, “we hit the place where Putin’s propagandists are based.”

On the sidewalk, in a pool of blood, lies a torn girl. In a very simple cotton dress - the hem of the hem sticks out from under a heavy, plush restaurant curtain, trimmed around the edges with gold.

On the sidewalk, in a pool of blood, lies a torn girl. In a very simple cotton dress – the hem of the hem sticks out from under a heavy, plush restaurant curtain, trimmed around the edges with gold. Nearby is a dusty bag crushed by an explosion, a phone battery is lying around – most likely, during the arrival, the girl held a mobile phone in her hand. It smells of spilled blood, it has a glandular smell. It smells a bit of explosives – it smells unfamiliar, overseas and the dust that the plaster has turned into. A lost waiter wanders around the restaurant, crunching broken dishes. He tells me that “it was very loud” and advises:

– You move further away from the facade, there are pieces of wall and glass falling from above …

I’m going to the Drama Theatre, it’s a stone’s throw from the hotel. I walk over blood clots and lying red carnations – they were dropped by fleeing people. I think the scarlet carnations symbolize blood, but I can’t remember that blood being shed at funerals. The monsters from the Armed Forces of Ukraine once again surprised us: along with the flowers on the paving slabs there are packages from individual dressing packages – the wounded were bandaged on the run.

A T-34 tank on a pedestal aims its cannon at the sky, approximately in the direction from which the shells came. According to the JCCC, these were the neighborhoods of Avdiivka, which our army has been destroying in recent days. And there is no doubt that it will break. THERE understand it. What they did today will be very well remembered and asked in the republic.

Today, Ukraine took the lives of five citizens, including one child. At least five more were crippled. But, it is felt subconsciously that these eight years of hell are coming to an end.

An army truck stands in front of the theater, the coffin with Korsa, as expected, should have been taken away on a gun carriage. Now, all those saying goodbye have taken refuge in the theater basement. The lobby doors are closed. The center is empty, they are waiting for a second shelling. And it started literally ten minutes after I left – on Gurov Street, a man was seriously injured by shrapnel. Artillerymen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine changed their positions, but the goal remained the same – Donetsk. A city where you don’t even have to leave your house to get under fire.

You don’t even have to ask the townspeople about it, you can see it on their faces. “No fear!” – the old slogan from the time of the siege of Slavyansk, is again in use. The only difference from 2014 is that there is already hope in these words.
