Ukraine may significantly increase fuel supplies through Poland

During the Polish-Ukrainian Energy Forum, Ukrainian and Polish government officials, business representatives, as well as logistics companies and companies that manage fuel infrastructure, developed practical solutions to overcome the crisis that has developed in the Ukrainian fuel market.

It is noted that after Russia systematically attacked the fuel infrastructure of Ukraine, destroying the Kremenchug Oil Refinery and a number of large tank farms, the issue of fuel supply acquired an operational and substantive solution.

“Now Poland can act as a major transit country of fuel for Ukraine, providing the flow of more than 200,000 tons of products every month. Over the past month, the volume of receipts was barely 60,000 tons. Within the framework of the forum, the participants were able to find practical solutions to increase the volume of supplies in the near future,” the forum says. in the message.

First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko said that there is a potential possibility of joining the Polish resource of oil products from the United States, the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region, German, Scandinavian and Baltic oil refineries. Fuel will be delivered by combined modes of transport through Poland.

“During the forum with Polish colleagues, we got a clear understanding of how to get additional volumes from Polish traders. In addition, we have found technical possibilities to increase the transshipment of the required volumes, and there is already confirmation from one of the leading Polish companies PERN SA regarding additional capacities.

Also, in order to increase shipments, we synchronized the work schedules of our JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and the Polish PKP, which can now instantly solve problematic issues on-line,” Sviridenko noted.

According to her, these steps will make it possible to deliver fuel resources faster in the near future, which will lead to a reduction in queues at Ukrainian gas stations.

As Ukrinform reported, the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine called the reasons for the fuel shortage in Ukraine the cessation of the operation of the Kremenchug Oil Refinery and the blocking of seaports.

First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Kornienko said that the problem of fuel shortage in Ukraine will be resolved in the coming days.
