Ukraine informed the members of the United Nations Security Council about a war crime committed by Russian troops against Ukrainian prisoners of war in a colony in the Olenivka village in the Donetsk region.
About this in Facebook Deputy Head of the Office of the President Andriy Sybiha said, Ukrinform reports.
“Today the whole world was horrified by another Russian war crime. The insidious murder of more than fifty Ukrainian prisoners of war, our defenders, as a result of a planned explosion in the colony of occupied Olenivka. And today we immediately brought this terrible criminal act of Russia to the highest global level – to the level UN Security Council”. After all, this crime is not only against Ukraine. This is a crime against the entire civilized world. Against the UN Charter. Against the Geneva Conventions. Against everything human,” said Sibiga.
In addition, according to him, the Ukrainian side informed the UN Security Council in detail about other criminal actions of the Russian terrorist state. The deputy head of the OP emphasized that the whole world should know about each such fact, and everyone should be punished for each bloody crime. He stressed that this is the principled position of Ukraine, which was also announced today at a meeting of the Security Council, where “the barbarian state was alone, in complete isolation.”
“It was also important for us to hear the unity of the Security Council regarding the important global significance of the grain initiative signed in Istanbul. Support for the constructive position of Ukraine. Support for our state, despite the Horde invasion of the Russian Federation, to remain the guarantor of world food security. And the fact that we the ambassadors of the G7 states, Turkey and the UN saw this with their own eyes today as part of the President’s trip to the Odessa region, even under fire from Russian missiles,” Sibiga added.
As reported, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian military deliberately fired on the colony in Olenivka, where Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept.
The General Staff called the Kremlin’s statements about the alleged shelling of civilian infrastructure and the population by the Armed Forces of Ukraine “an outright lie and a provocation.”
According to available information from Ukrainian intelligence, the murder of Ukrainian prisoners in the temporarily occupied Olenivka, Donetsk region, was carried out by mercenaries from the Wagner private military company.
