Volumes Russian gas, supplied in transit to Europe through the territory of Ukraine through the key point Sohranivka, decreased to zero, follows from the data of the Ukrainian operator of the State Customs Service on Wednesday, May 11. Ukraine a few days ago warned of its intention to stop gas transit via this route due to hostilities.

The State Customs Service said that “due to the intervention of the occupying authorities in technical processes”, it is no longer possible to operate the compressor station in Novopskov in the Lugansk region, therefore, starting from May 11, the gas flow along the route through Sokhranivka is stopped and redirected through the junction station in Sudzha. According to the State Customs Service, almost 72 million cubic meters of gas are planned to be pumped through this route on May 11.

At the same time, the Russian concern “Gazprom” declares that such a switch is technically impossible. According to the State Customs Service, almost a third of the total volume of gas supplied from Russia. A representative of the German Ministry of Economy said that at the moment the stoppage of transit through Sokhranivka will not lead to fuel shortages, “supply security in Germany currently provided.”
