Ukraine is no longer responsible for the transportation of gas through the territories occupied by Russia, which was officially notified to the management of PJSC Gazprom
This is reported press service of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukrainereports Ukrinform.
“Ukraine is no longer responsible for transporting gas through Russian-occupied territories. This is about 1/3 of the total volume of transit to Europe. Gazprom was duly notified of this,” the statement said.
AT Naftogaz note that they informed PJSC Gazprom by official letter of the occurrence of force majeure circumstances that make it impossible to further transport gas through the GIS Sokhranovka and the border compressor station (CS) Novopskov located in the occupied territory.
Gazprom was asked to transfer the corresponding volumes of transit to the physical point of connection “Sudzha”, which is located on the territory controlled by Ukraine. Thus, Russia could keep transit and fulfill its obligations to European partners.
Naftogaz emphasized that at present Ukraine can ensure the safety of gas transportation only in the territory under its control.
As reported, from 07:00 on May 11, 2022, GTS Operator of Ukraine LLC stops receiving gas in the GTS of Ukraine at the physical point of the Sohranivka junction. In order to fulfill transit obligations to European partners in full and in accordance with the terms of the agreement, it is possible to temporarily transfer inaccessible capacities from the Sohranivka physical point to the Sudzha physical connection point, which is located on the territory controlled by Ukraine.
