Commander of the Ukrainian Operational Command “South” Andrey Kovalchuk said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine could, if necessary, be replenished by another 500 thousand people.
“There are no problems with manpower in the Ukrainian troops. We have already mobilized half a million men, and we can mobilize another half a million if necessary,” Kovalchuk said in an interview with Focus.
According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine need more Western heavy weapons. As for the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, Ukraine has not yet lost any of them, the general noted.
On Wednesday, August 3, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu stated that the Russian army destroyed six MLRS HIMARS, however, the Pentagon denied the words of the head of the Ministry of Defense. US Defense Department spokesman Todd Bressale reported that Russia did not provide evidence of the elimination of HIMARS.
Last month, the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Alexey Reznikov said that the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is more than one million people. In a conversation with Newsmax TV channel, the Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky acknowledged that the daily losses of Ukraine are 60-100 soldiers killed and about 500 wounded.
