Ukraine boycotts the 2022 Junior Muay Thai World Cup due to the admission of Russia and Belarus

The Ukrainian Muay Thai team will not perform at the 2022 World Junior and Youth Championships, which will be held from August 9 to 21 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This was reported in Ministry youth and sports of Ukraine, and also confirmed the Thai Boxing Federation of Ukraine on its page on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

The decision is due to the fact that, despite the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine with the support of Belarus, Russian and Belarusian athletes were allowed to the World Cup. The only restriction is that they will perform in a neutral status, that is, without a flag and other state symbols.

The Ukrainian Federation has called for a complete ban on the representatives of the aggressor countries.

Since the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA) did not listen to these demands, Ukrainian athletes refused to compete with fighters from Russia and Belarus, and declared a boycott of the competition.
