Authorities of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) refused to fire teachers, students and administrative staff of the institution accused of incurring in behaviors of abuse of authority, harassment, sexual assault, workplace harassment and manipulation of consider the demand of the paristas as an act that responds to “frankly political interests”.
And it is that, despite the fact that the authorities have said they are open to dialogue to reach common agreements, the paristas of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) conditioned the delivery of its petition demanding the dismissal of at least four officials of the institution.
It was through a statement that the group that maintains the strike, called “United Faculties”, reported that the delivery of the petition will be made as soon as the authorities dismiss the aforementioned officials and university studentsfor which the Rectory accused them of “refusing to reach agreements.”
Among the officials and university students identified by the group “Facultades Unidas” is the institution’s general attorney, Gonzalo Martínez García, who is accused of committing plagiarism, concealment, omission of information, workplace harassment and abuse of authority.
In the same way, the paristas demand the resignation of the professor of natural sciencesJuan Joel Mosqueda, accused of incurring in acts of abuse of power, harassment, sexual assault, academic persecution and intellectual theft. Likewise, Comptroller José Alejandro Ramírez is accused of embezzlement, workplace harassment and being behind the shock groups sent to destabilize the strike.
Additionally, the group “Facultades Unidas” demanded the dismissal of the coordinator of the Concá High School, Fernando Rocha Mier, who, like the previous cases, is accused of committing acts of abuse of power, manipulation, student persecution and even extortion.
In their statement, the paristas assured that the authorities of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) have underestimated the student actions that have been taken to remove all kinds of violence from their classrooms.
Since last September 30, organized students from the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) announced a work stoppage in the institution motivated by the lack of attention that the authorities have taken regarding the more than 300 complaints for gender violence presented by the cases registered in their different campuses.
It is worth mentioning that said protest detonated after students of the Faculty of Political Sciences demonstrated due to the untimely response by the authorities of the institution in the implementation of precautionary measures in the face of the harassment experienced by a female student by another student who presumably he arrived armed at the facilities of the campus.
For this reason, during the first meetings organized by the collective “Facultades Unidas” it was demanded update the care protocol cases of gender violenceas well as preventive measures to prevent the entry of firearms into university facilities and establish contact between the Gender Violence Attention Unit with each of the faculties and high schools of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ).
In general matters, the integration of a joint commission in charge of reviewing the investigations in the Gender Violence Attention Unit was also contemplated, sanctions for each teacher, administrative and student with open folders for gender violence and training for security personnel in the same matter.
