Trudeau and Scholz agreed to strengthen the isolation of Russia
Canada and Germany will work together to increase Russia’s economic isolation
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz agreed on this during a telephone conversation, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The leaders agreed to continue to maintain close coordination to continue supporting Ukraine and further economic isolation of Russia,” the Canadian Prime Minister’s office said after the conversation.
It is noted that the interlocutors expressed concern about the global impact of the war in Ukraine, including the consequences for energy and food security. “The Prime Minister and the Chancellor praised the Ukrainian people for their relentless courage in the face of Russian aggression. They reaffirmed the firm support of President Volodymyr Zelensky and his government and committed to continuing economic, security and humanitarian support for Ukraine,” Trudeau said.
Recall: this Sunday, Justin Trudeau, together with Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Foreign Minister Melanie Joly, made an unannounced visit to Ukraine, during which he visited Irpin, destroyed by Russian troops.
