According to the former Deputy Chief of Staff British Prime Minister Boris Johnson Cleo Watsonwhat she did for him was more like a babysitter.
“My role on Downing Street sounds cool, but a lot of the time I was closer to the role of a nanny for Boris,” Watson said in an interview with Tatler.
The former deputy chief regularly put a thermometer on Johnson, monitoring his temperature during the COVID-19 pandemic, and during the prime minister’s recovery from the coronavirus, she constantly reminded him to take his medications and the need to perform the exercises recommended by his doctor. Watson made Johnson wash his hands when he forgot about it and made sure he didn’t use foul language in public.
Cleo Watson stepped down from her position at Downing Street in 2020 when Johnson’s previous chief adviser, Dominic Cumings, left his position.
