Tkachenko discussed cooperation with Brink to support Ukrainian media

Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko discussed with US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink cooperation to support the Ukrainian media and counter Russian disinformation.

According to Ukrinform, Tkachenko wrote about this in his Telegram.

“Had a fruitful meeting with US Ambassador to Ukraine Brink and her team. America is one of our biggest allies and provides us with assistance in many areas – from weapons to providing grants to our creative industries and artists,” the message says.

According to Tkachenko, during the meeting they discussed more thorough and concrete cooperation in three areas, in particular, “support for the Ukrainian media and counteracting Russian disinformation.” “These two tracks always stand together, because our media is our information front, to which I propose that all countries of the civilized world join,” the minister said.

That is why Tkachenko “proposes organizing an “information Ramstein”, which will be a platform for discussing new wartime information challenges and will lay the foundation for a united information front of the allied countries.”

During the meeting, they discussed the issue of “preserving the cultural heritage of Ukraine – assistance is needed both in the direction of the digitalization of cultural heritage and in the creation of separate registers for each direction, and in the supply of materials for the evacuation of cultural objects,” the minister noted.

In addition, they discussed support for Ukrainian artists and book publishing.

“They offered to create collaborations between well-known American and Ukrainian institutions or artists on a long-term basis,” the head of the ICIP informed.

Tkachenko stressed that Ukrainian “artists in Ukraine need financial support.”

“There are many tasks before us, how to restore these areas after the war, and even more challenges today. Therefore, I continue to explain to partners why we need specific support now and within Ukraine. I am grateful to the partners for their understanding and willingness to help,” the minister said.
