Three or four columns of enemy equipment pass through Melitopol every day

Residents of the temporarily occupied Melitopol have been watching columns of Russian military equipment pass through the city for several days now.

Mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov announced this on the air of the national telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“That’s 3-4 columns every day. Tonight there was a column on duty. They go both in the city center and in the outskirts, in each column – from 20 to 30 pieces of equipment. This is a different kind of weapons: from tanks to airborne combat vehicles, infantry fighting vehicles. There are also just armored weapons and infantry troops,” Fedorov said.

According to him, yesterday a Buk-M2, an anti-aircraft missile system, which is the latest modification of this weapon, was seen in the city, and it also follows Kherson and Crimea.

“The troops are being drawn there, they are coming from the direction of Donbass, Mariupol, Berdyansk,” the mayor of Melitopol said.

At the same time, he noted that Melitopol is historically the logistical center of the South, “the gateway to Crimea,” “and without the de-occupation of Melitopol, we cannot talk about the de-occupation of Crimea and the South of Ukraine as a whole.”

As reported, NSDC Secretary Alexei Danilov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have stepped up on the southern front.

Less than half of the population remains in Melitopol. The only way to enter Ukraine-controlled territory is through Vasylivka, where more than 800 cars and about 4,000 people are queuing. Five people died in a week while waiting for permission to travel at a checkpoint in Vasilievka.
