Three people were killed and six were injured in a knife-wielding attack on a kindergarten in China’s Jiangxi province, AFP news agency reported on Wednesday, August 3. Law enforcement did not release the age of the victims and victims, but AFP notes that in a video published by the state newspaper Beijing Dailyyou can see how a policeman carries a small child into an ambulance.

According to police, the alleged attacker is a 48-year-old local resident. The man managed to escape, he is put on the wanted list. Footage released by local media shows a man wearing a cap and mask entering a private kindergarten in southeast China’s Anfu County.

Former knife attacks in China

AT China civilians are prohibited from owning firearms, but knife attacks are not uncommon in the country, AFP notes. In 2018, a man was sentenced to death for stabbing nine children and injuring 11 others in the north of the country, the agency recalls.

In April 2021, a man killed two and stabbed 16 children at a kindergarten in southern China. In June of the same year man with a knife killed six people and injured 14 people on a shopping street in Anqing city.
