Lieutenant Ilya Samoylenko from the Azov Regiment* (banned in Russia) located at the Azovstal plant in the city of Mariupol stated that there were no civilians on the territory of the enterprise.
According to him, Ukrainian fighters are suffering serious losses during the ongoing offensive of the Russian army.
“The number of wounded and dead soldiers is very high, and these people deserve due care,” he told Sky News in a telephone conversation.
Samoylenko stressed that the Ukrainian military stationed at Azovstal had actually run out of resources for subsistence, so they believe that “every day could be the last for them.”
