There are about 104 thousand Ukrainians in the UK, of which 14.2 thousand are schoolchildren placed in British schools.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK Vadym Prystaiko announced this on the air of the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.
“Now about 104,000 Ukrainians have arrived and are here. Some of them come and go, but this is the total number. Of these, if we are talking about schoolchildren, about 15 thousand applications, now 14,200 schoolchildren have already been placed in schools,” he said.
Prystaiko specified that there are 9,600 students in the elementary school, 6,100 in the middle school and several thousand in the senior school, who are trying to transfer to universities in Britain.
“Of course the system is different, it’s hard for people to find how to do it, but many universities have simplified their rules. Some give scholarships so people can start their studies, because studying in the UK is quite a valuable thing. The embassy is trying to help them,” the diplomat said.
As reported, as of June 26, Britain issued more than 130,000 visas to Ukrainians under two programs to protect those who leave Ukraine because of the war unleashed by Russia.
