Yekaterinburg “Yeltsin Center” on Friday, June 25, denied several media reports that appeared a few hours earlier about the check, which was allegedly carried out by employees of the Center for Combating Extremism (Center “E”) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The press service of the “Yeltsin Center” called these reports “stuffing”, saying: “There is a conference going on, speakers are speaking, everything is according to plan.” These days, the Yeltsin Center is hosting an international scientific conference on the History of Stalinism.
A day earlier, Center “E” conducted a search in the Yekaterinburg Memorial branch, The reason for which, according to Kommersant, was an anonymous report that the organization allegedly distributes extremist literature. As a result, Center “E” officers confiscated more than 40 books, two hard drives and a laptop. In addition, the head of the department, Alexei Mosin, was detained.
