“The world will never be the same”

Political scientist Alexander Vedrussov commented on the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives to Pravda.Ru Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.

“China’s response will be not so much military as sanctions, maybe some kind of trade, economic. Now all Chinese-American potential projects will inevitably collapse, there will be a strict disengagement in any case. We hope that there will be no direct military conflict between China and United States,” Vedrussov said.

According to him, from today, China-US relations will begin to deteriorate.

“The world will no longer be the same. The complex situational alliance of America and China, on which the global economy and geopolitical collapses have been built over the past decades, has ceased to exist today. Further relations between the United States and China will inevitably degrade. We can only observe how fast this will happen, how tough this gap will be and what it means for the world,” the source said.

Vedrussov believes that the confrontation between the two world powers may be beneficial for Russia in the long run.

“The global peace is over today. It has been falling apart for a long time, but it could not fall apart in any way. But it is difficult not to see certain positive aspects of this confrontation for Russia itself,” the political scientist added.

Earlier, China strongly protested Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the visit of the speaker of the US House of Representatives worsened China-US relations, violated China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and shook peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
