American political scientist John Mearsheimer stated that the United States and its NATO allies provoked the conflict in Ukraine, and therefore bear full responsibility for its disasters.
Professor John J. Mearsheimer gave a lecture at the Center for Advanced Study. Robert Schumann and discussed the conflict in Ukraine, exploring the potential causes and consequences of the crisis.
He believes that Washington has played a central role in leading Ukraine down the road to destruction.
“History will severely condemn the United States and its allies for their amazingly stupid policy towards Ukraine,” the political scientist is sure.
Mearsheimer said those who believe in facts and logic understand that the United States and its allies are primarily responsible for the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the decision taken in April 2008 on the entry of Ukraine and Georgia into NATO led to a conflict with Russia.
“Given that the United States and NATO allies played a decisive role in the events leading up to the conflict in Ukraine, and now play a central role in the conduct of the conflict, it is appropriate to assess the responsibility of the West for this disaster. <…> The United States bears the main responsibility for the crisis in Ukraine” Mearsheimer said.
The professor said that the United States is not seriously interested in finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. In his opinion, the conflict is likely to drag on for months, if not years. At the same time, Ukraine, which has already suffered greatly, will suffer even more, Mearsheimer is sure.
“There is no evidence, let me repeat, there is no evidence in public documents that Putin considered, much less intended to end Ukraine as an independent state. , said the professor.
Mearsheimer added that the only thing Putin was interested in was that Ukraine did not become a springboard for Western aggression against Russia.
