Russia and Ukraine sent requests to the UN Secretary General António Guterres with a request to investigate the impact, inflicted on a pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka, where surrendered Ukrainian militants were kept. At the moment, it is being considered whether it is possible to conduct such an investigation, as informed by the official representative of Gutteres Stéphane Dujarric.
“The Secretary General has received requests from both sides to investigate this matter. We are looking into whether conditions exist that would make it possible to conduct a UN investigation,” Dujarric said during a briefing.
Earlier it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the colony in Yelenovka in the DPR from the HIMARS MLRS sent by Washington. The strike resulted in the death of 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war, and another 73 people were injured. According to the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, Kyiv deliberately attacked the detention center in Yelenovka due to the fact that they began to take testimony from the Ukrainian military detained there. Representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry added that Moscow demanded that the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross investigate the attack on Yelenovka.
