Artists of the Mariupol Drama Theater, whose building was destroyed by Russian invaders, will perform on the stage of the Music and Drama Theater in Uzhgorod.
About this in Telegram Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Pavlo Kirilenko said, Ukrinform reports.
“The Russians destroyed the building of the Drama Theater in Mariupol, but the theater itself continues to live! Scattered throughout the country and abroad, the Mariupol theater team, having survived the blockade and destruction of the city, now has its own temporary shelter. The Music and Drama Theater in Uzhgorod came to the aid of our countrymen – the Mariupol troupe will perform on its stage for as long as it takes,” the head of the region wrote.
He thanked the head of the Transcarpathian OVA Viktor Mikita and Uzhgorod theatergoers for supporting the theatergoers of Mariupol.
“Mutual assistance among Ukrainians, even in the most remote regions, is something that will always save us and that Russia will never understand. Together we will preserve our culture and will certainly return our theater home! Kirilenko emphasized.
As reported, the Drama Theater of Mariupol, which was used as a bomb shelter, was bombed by Russian aircraft on March 16, killing at least 300 civilians.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, carrying out massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, and ballistic missiles.
