The Ministry of Labor said that over the 16 years of the existence of the program maternal capital more than 8.2 million Russian families used these funds to improve their living conditions. The KP.RU website conducted a survey and found outwhat Russians think about the support program. It turned out that many respondents believe that it is better for young parents to help with the housing issue, and not just transfer money.

So, 62% of the respondents expressed confidence that the demographic situation in the country would improve dramatically if young families were given apartments instead of materiel. After all, many couples refuse to have a child because they live with their parents or rent apartments, or even pay unaffordable mortgages.

“Apartments for young people are the most reliable capital. A roof over your head is the most valuable, most reliable thing that newlyweds with children have,” says a survey participant.

“Apartments for young people, not money, not everyone can properly manage money, and an apartment is reliable,” agrees another.

“Until a young couple has their own little apartment, the demographics will not budge,” the third confidently declares.

More 13% note that it is necessary to leave the mother’s capital, but to simplify the purchase of an apartment with this money for young parents. In order to acquire their own nest, parents could easily and in the shortest possible time.

But 12% and they added at all that not everyone needs apartments, and money at the birth of a baby is definitely not superfluous, so everything should be left as it is, and people themselves will figure out what it is better to spend accruals on.

“Since this (matkapital – ed.) helps, we must leave everything as it is,” the respondent says.

“I also think it should be left, a normal program,” nods another.

6% Russians say that young parents should be given more housing benefits, because now the amount of mother’s capital to buy an entire apartment is definitely not enough, and preferential mortgages are also not always a suitable option.

2% they added that if it is not possible to give apartments to all parents, then at least temporary housing can be provided so that the newlyweds know that they can always retire from relatives and get the opportunity to get on their feet.

But five% reported that they oppose any programs aimed at improving the demographic situation. Respondents consider them superfluous and I express confidence that you need to give birth to children only when you yourself want and are sure that you can provide the future for the kids, and do not count on the help of the state or someone else.

The survey was conducted among subscribers of the site KP.RU in social networks. Respondents could select multiple answers. 8.1 thousand people took part in the study.
