The Russians are changing military logistics: they launched a ferry from Yeysk to Mariupol

The launch of the ferry is reported by Russian propaganda resources, writes Center for Investigative Journalism.

The test flight was made on July 27, and regular flights will be announced in August. The operation of the Lavrentiy ferry (LAVRENTIY) is provided by the Oboronlogistics company, which is part of the Ministry of Defense. It is reported that it was this company that organized the ferry service to the Crimea for the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait.

The Lavrentiy ferry (IMO: 8647866), according to the International Maritime Organization, belongs to the Moscow company Smart Way (TIN: 7714888345). At the same time, by the decision of the Fifteenth Arbitration Court of the Court of Appeal of the Russian Federation dated April 5, 2017, it was determined that the ownership of the vessel arose in Oboronlogistics LLC.

Andrey Klimenko, editor-in-chief of the BlackSeaNews portal writesthat the ship “Lavrentiy” will be used for military purposes.

“It will transport military personnel, military equipment and vehicles with ammunition from there to Mariupol,” Klymenko believes.

The ship can carry up to 700 tons of cargo, including up to 20 trucks and more than 130 passengers. Travel time from Yeysk to Mariupol will be about four hours.

In the database of courts violating the Crimean sanctions from blackseanews for 2018, it is indicated that the ship was based in Kerch and was engaged in the transport of troops.

On the website of Oboronlogistics, it is noted that in addition to the Black Sea, it is engaged in transportation in the waters of the Mediterranean, Baltic, White, Barents, Kara, Chukchi, Okhotsk and other seas.
